Random thoughts

Last night I dreamed I got arrested for breaking into Robin Williams' house (which was very near my voice teacher's house) and put on a $2 bail. I can't remember if anyone paid it.

Romeo & Juliet is coming along well. We've staged everything but the last scene. Memorization deadline is Monday.

I'm going on a diet for the next three weeks. Yeah, short time frame, but the point is to make myself easier for the Capulets to carry me once I'm playing dead. Maddeningly, making that decision the day before the DELICIOUS BAKE SALE was a bad idea. We've got quite a few bakers this year.

I love Z.R.E.O.

Hip-hop? What is this hip-hop?

My musical library has zero dance-appropriate music that is not obviously classical. Hopefully the other soundmeister has good tunes.

Songwriting geek returns

The following is a rewrite of the song "Still Alive" to be sung by Majora's Mask. Those who aren't Zelda geeks bear with me.

You have surprised me.

I didn’t suspect that you could win.

That’s what comes of sinking into madness.

Thank the Four Giants.

They didn’t forget he was their friend.

Termina is safe once more

And Skull Kid’s stronger of heart.

(Chorus 1)

But it’s not that easy to dispose of me

You could keep on fighting for eternity

And by your dying day’s night you’ll have forgotten that you fight

For the people who are still alive.

I'm not just a relic.

My power is real and here for good,

Even though the Happy Mask Man has me.

He won’t last much longer.

I’ll make him return me to my home.

Then some unsuspecting host

Will take me off of his corpse.

(Chorus 2)

And you know that Ganon also longs to escape,

So you know that evil can take a second shape.

If you stop his return, then I’ll have ample time to burn

All the people who are still alive.

Go ahead and leave them.

There might be a chance they’ll live in peace.

Maybe Anju and Kafei will prosper.

Maybe they’ll have kids -

That was a joke. Ha ha. They’re dead.

Anyway, you made me laugh:

It was a meaningless quest.

(Chorus 3)

And you made those people so happy for a while,

But a hero’s life is a never-ending trial.

So don’t go away too soon or I’ll drop another moon

On the people who are still alive.

And despite you I am still alive.

I am a mask but I am still alive.

They’ll all forget you when I'm still alive.

Someone will find me when I’m still alive.

And you won’t be there when I’m still alive.

Still alive

Still alive

The art room is dangerous!

I may have had a little too much fun coming up with on-campus weapon possibilities.

Gallop apace, you fiery-footed steeds!

Casting has come through. Romeo and Juliet have both been double-cast, and for the second half I am Juliet. Yeah, you read that right. Second Romeo will likewise be played by a girl. The OS did ask me to shave my mustache off for the part (not so much to look feminine as to look young and innocent), so I went home, shaved, and promptly lacerated myself on the razor. Hope she doesn't mind a Juliet with scars.

Well, no casting yet.

We had Bobby again today. Scenes were a mix of dramatic (including the one in which I participated) and comedic (I will never lose the image of Sunshine saying with her usual smile, "Men. They're all fuckers."). My scene with Sexmeister, Knight, and [title TBD] I was in two years ago (so was Sexmeister), but I felt considerably more comfortable this time. I need to work on getting out of my head, both offstage and on.

Slasher and [title TBD #2] both had their birthdays today. *breaks into yet another round of "Happy Birthday to You"*

Auditions

Character sides were given today, and we'll each audition for two roles tomorrow. I'l be reading for Tybalt and one other who shall remain nameless for the time being.

Is the day so young?

Back at Cal Shakes for my third (and last) year working with the OS. Yesss!

The newcomers seem like a nice lot, but I haven't gotten a handle on them yet. Our intern's gonna be cool.

As I mentioned, our play is R&J, which the OS said she picked specifically for connections to our lives. The concept is an interesting one; I hope we can pull it off without too much of a nod and wink. Yeah, we will.

The three roles for which I'll be auditioning are Romeo, Tybalt, and the prince. I want a role that forces me to more genuine and deeper levels of emotion than I've generally done in the past--though Tom Jr. was a nice step in that direction--but I also want a chance to play a character who can be scary. Not creepy. I can do creepy just fine. Intimidating. That's an angle I really haven't worked before, and besides, Tybalt gets to fight. The fights sounds like they'll be really fun this year. The prince I'm looking at for reasons similar to Tybalt. Also, I want to improve in natural movement across the stage no matter who I'm playing. When OS saw my list of role choices she laughed and strongly agreed with me. So that's a good sign.

Sunshine didn't show up today. Apparently she was under the impression that the camp was starting on Wednesday...?

I've really screwed up my sleep schedule. I hope it gets back under control tonight.

Congratulations! ...Who are you?

So I just got back from the grad party of a friend of mine through elementary school. Thought she was her sister at first (good thing I didn't greet by name!). Couldn't identify any of the other students there at all. Recognized her parents immediately, though. *shrug* Explained the St. John's curriculum several times.

*interrupts train of thought*

These friend requests are now coming in by the bucketful. Several people I barely even know and I went to school with them for the past couple of years. How and why do they track me down?

*back on track*

...Guess that was all I had to say

Seductress says this:

1. I'll respond with something random about you. the only way my brain can ever describe you is Peter and that is now a classification in my head unique to you ^.^( it's good though)
2. I'll tell you which song or movie or play you remind me of. duh Shakespeare
3. I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me. phantom of the opera in the mornings
4. I'll tell you my first memory of you. I can't even remember.... maybe the first day of camp and you taking out your retainer and making that popping noise
5. I'll tell you what animal you remind me of. an owl ... maybe
6. I'll ask you something I've always wondered about you. Why do you chose not to drive?
7. If you play, you MUST post this on your blog.

Had some copy/paste issues while transcribing that. Hm.

A bit more life catch-up

Last night, Vince, Ratched, and I took T out to dinner at a Vietnamese restaurant. Much fun was had by all.

Orientation for Cal Shakes was this evening. Yeah, we're stuck with Romeo and Juliet. *fist clench* Not that I hate the play itself, but it's overdone and there are so many others that would have been nice to work on. We've got quite a few returners this year: Loyal, Loquacious, and Song were all there tonight, and there's also Slasher, Sexmeister, Rose, Sunshine, Knight, and Seductress. I didn't recognize any of the six newcomers' names.

And now a Facebook account too?

If I'm not careful I may end up becoming *gasp* mainstream!

SQUEE!

Last class with Shakespeare God was today.

Been a fun and productive several weeks.

Good stuff went down.

Yeah. ...Squee!

Mmm...technology...

Graduation has occurred. *fist pump*

I got a couple of nice presents for having survived, including a new computer and an iPod (shocking as it may seem, I did not have one until now). Following the advice of Barbossa, this laptop's a Apple. *rimshot*

Today I'm attending two grad parties and a behind-the-Commons movie night (Blade Runner). Should be fun.

Oh, and here's a picture of me on the last day of school. Some of my classmates were disappointed to hear the change wasn't permanent.

Tomorrow will be insane

Finals are finis! YAHOOOOOOO!

Tomorrow is final morning meeting...and the unveiling of the senior prank. I don't know the full scope of what we're doing this year, but at least one hallway is getting walled up.

Oh, and I've got a little surprise of my own: when I come to school tomorrow I expect to be nigh-unrecognizable: jeans, flip-flops, tank top, shades, and spikey red hair. If anyone comments I've got a twenty-two-line rap ready to recite about my new outlook on life, complete with atrocious rhymes like listen/system, philosophies/Socrates, and regular/kegger. It'll be fun.

Also, of course, it's Senior Cry Day(tm). I plan to get up to acknowlege various folks in the drama department, but I doubt I'll shed any tears in the process. Then we have graduation practice after school, graduation tomorrow, and...

HIGH SCHOOL WILL BE OVER!

Winding down

So. Catch-up.

I have taken two out of five finals (Modern Western Thought and Dramatic Writing), with AP Stats and Humanitas tomorrow. For Stats I'll be taking about t-tests, z-tests, and Mutants & Masterminds. Yep, I have a two-part math project based on RPG write-ups for comic book characters. I am such a geek.

Class with the Shakespeare God is going very well. We've finished working on our monologues and have moved on to short two-person scenes. I'm now playing the titular character in Hamlet 3.4, which means I kill Polonius and yell at Getrude. I continue to hold my reputation of Monsieur Memorizes-Everything-In-Two-Seconds. The main points I need to work on in general are taking my time with the lines and not falling into the trap of running them only for the words when I'm on my own.

Yearbooks came out on Friday. This was the first year in color, which was nice, but why do I look like I'm wearing lipstick half the time?

I'll post my Dramatic Writing scene when I get it back.

Two weeks and a day to Cal Shakes Summer. Yee!

Whoops. Still need to finish my "Who Am I?" essay for Humanitas. Later.
